  • See the ruins of Dunluce Castle
  • Travel down the romantic avenue of beech trees at Dark Hedges
Overview
Discover the dramatic landscapes of Northern Ireland on a day trip to the Giant's Causeway from Dublin. Go to the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge near Ballintoy, and see the ruins of Dunluce Castle en route. Make a quick stop in Belfast and more.
What to Expect
Depart Dublin and travel to Belfast to see the capital of Northern Ireland and birthplace of the Titanic ocean liner. Stop next to Belfast City Hall and enjoy approximately 45 minutes to explore the city.

Next, travel along the romantic avenue of intertwined beech trees known as "Dark Hedges." Planted in the 18th century by the Stuart family, they remain a beautiful sight and were even used in the HBO series, Game of Thrones.  Continue to Dunluce Castle, said to be the inspiration for The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. Constructed in the 13th century, it now lies in ruins on the edge of a basalt outcrop in County Antrim.

Go to the Giant's Causeway, formed from about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns. Enjoy around 1.5 hours at the UNESCO World Heritage Site and get up close to the hexagonal columns, often referred to as the "8th Wonder of the World." End with a visit to Cushendun and experience the closest point between Ireland and Scotland. Hear the story of the most famous goat in Northern Ireland before the return journey to your pick-up point.
