From Prague: Guided Dresden Day Trip with Lunch

3. From Prague: Guided Dresden Day Trip with Lunch

Explore the most spectacular Baroque city in Germany on this day trip to Dresden from Prague. Discover the historic sites in a city once called the “Florence of the North” with an English-speaking guide. Visit the terrific Frauenkirche church, the renowned Dresden Cathedral, and the world-famous Zwinger museum complex. Choose to begin your trip either at the meeting point or at your hotel in Prague. Set off early in the morning and arrive in Dresden approximately 2 hours later. First, make your way to the stunning Bruhl’s Terrace, sometimes called the “Balcony of Europe.” From the terrace, look across the River Elbe and see the historic architecture lining the streets of Dresden Neustadt. After a cup of coffee and a famous local dessert in a renowned local café, visit the breathtaking Frauenkirche church, badly damaged during World War II and recently fully restored. Then, admire the ingenious Furstenzug — The Procession of Princes. As it stands over 10 metres tall, you’ll need to crane your neck to take in the detailed artwork. The next stop will be at Dresden Cathedral, whose façade is covered with intricate sculptures and reliefs. After walking through the doors, marvel as your eyes are drawn immediately to a large painting of Jesus Christ ascending to the sky. The inside of the cathedral also includes a stone pulpit and the tombs of former Saxon sovereigns. After exploring the cathedral, stop for a traditional German lunch in a cozy local restaurant. Finish your tour of Dresden by visiting the Zwinger museums and admiring the art and amazing porcelain. Finally, head back to Prague, where you should arrive around 7 PM.

What people are saying about Dresden Porcelain Collection

Overall rating

4.4 / 5

based on 488 reviews

We have already visited a lot of city tours at home and abroad: Berlin, Munich, Vienna, Hamburg, Barcelona, Paris, Rome, London, etc. Until today we have never had the impression of being "undesirable" there. The extreme unfriendliness made you feel annoying, even undesirable, in Dresden. The word service consists of two words, the content of which is not really understood by the staff in the city's sights. It is also strange how "equalization" is practiced under Corona conditions in Dresden: the daily opening times are shortened instead of being extended. After all, this has the advantage that they are bothered by significantly fewer tourists.

The information counter to collect the Dresden City Card was within a small shopping mall right in front of the Frauenkirche Dresden. It may be missed due to the many restaurants alfresco there.

Fantastic museums although some were not included despite being on the list.

This welcome card is a good thing. Price performance is right.

Everything easy to get to and use, friendly staff on ship.
