Full description
In the morning your guide will greet you at the lobby of your hotel to embark on a journey through the heart of Southern Armenia. Your first discovery will be the Tatev Monastery, travelled to by ropeway. Enjoy the stunning mountain outcrop above the Vorotan Canyon. Later, you will take a trail which will lead you to the ancient medieval Monastery of Tatevi Anapat, which was the Tatev Monastery’s annex and former defensive seminary. For the more courageous ones, experience Satan's bridge, beyond which you can explore natural pools of warm water. At the end of the day, you will continue to Goris where you will settle in a comfortable guesthouse, where a hospitable and enjoyable atmosphere is guaranteed. The second day will be devoted to Goris, the town of traditions, zest for life, troubadours, and poets. You will be amazed by its rustic character and its fairy chimneys created over a century ago, as well as the spirit of resistance of its inhabitants. You will take a stroll through the town and uncover the main sights, including St-Hripsime chapel. Afterward, you will ascend the "Lasti Khout" hill, where a fabulous panorama will await you. After lunch, you will head to the Museum of Local Geography. In the afternoon, you will pay a visit to the adjoining village of Verishen, overlooking the cheese factory "Elola" and the church of St. Hripsime Dzagatsor, dating from the 4th century. After these discoveries, you will have a well-deserved rest in the mountainous village of Akner, where fresh herbal tea will await you. The day will conclude with a visit to Axel Bakun's musuem. The third day of your stay in Goris will begin with a visit to a beekeeper's house, where he will share with you the secrets of beekeeping. The route will continue to the old village of Khndzoresk, with its suspended bridge, medieval chapel, and its troglodyte houses. After having a delicious meal, you will return to Yerevan, but on your way to the capital, you will see the megalithic stones of Karahunj, considered to be older than Stonehenge. Visit the Noravank Monastery is a masterpiece of the Armenian architecture, and the Monastery of Khor Virap, a breathtaking view of Mount Ararat will be a real reward to your eyes.
