Arrival to Split airport where you will be met and transferred to a hotel situated in Split city center. Upon arrival and a short break in the hotel there will be a welcome dinner organized where you will be given all necessary information about your tour and program.
After an early breakfast you will meet the tour guide of your Dalmatia wine tour which will start with a visit to Kaštela – the home of an old, almost forgotten, authentic wine, Crljenak. The importance of this brand lies in the fact that it is a parent to the widely known and respected Zinfandel and Italian Primitivo. During the visit to the Kaštela vineyards and cellars you will be introduced to the history of Croatian wine-making while savoring this exquisite old red wine.
After a short catamaran trip you will continue the tour on the island of Hvar, the sunniest island in the whole of Croatia and home to the iconic wine of Dalmatia, Plavac Mali, a cross between ancestral Zinfandel, Crljenak Kaštelanski, and Dobričić grapes. This wine truly reflects the character of Dalmatia – hot, temperamental, gorgeous, sharp, slightly rustic and absolutely unique. Aside from Plavac Mali, you will have the chance to taste other exquisite wine sorts indigenous to Hvar island, Bogdanuša and Prč. Overnight stay on Hvar island.
After breakfast, meet up with your tour leader and continue your adventure on the streets of Hvar, an ancient city with rich history. The city of Hvar is a unique fusion of luxurious Mediterranean nature and rich cultural and historical heritage. Hvar gained glory and power during the Middle Ages being an important port within the Venetian naval empire. Today, it is the center of the island’s tourism and one of the favorite destinations in the Dalmatian riviera. After a morning walking tour of the city, the afternoon will be at leisure while the return to Split is planned by evening ferry.
In the morning you can enjoya guided private tour of Split's old town witl 1700 year old Diocletian palaces and one of the best preserved Roman residences in the world. St Duje Cathedral, Jupiter’s Temple, and the green market are only a few of the places that you will visit during the tour. After a stroll through the city’s history and culture, the tour will end in Paradox, Dalmatia’s finest Wine & Cheese Bar, set in the heart of old town of Split. Wine & Cheese Bar Paradox offers a comprehensive wine list featuring some of the best wines from Dalmatia and Croatia as well as a unique selection of cheeses, charcuterie and delicatessen.
Continue your adventure on the island of Brač and its vineyards. Brač is the largest island in Dalmatia, just off the coast of Split. In landscape, Brač is similar to its well known neighbor Hvar with its rolling hills, pine and fig trees, isolated bays, and clear water. Brač is famous for its wines, the most famous one being Bolski Plavac. After the wine-tasting, have lunch with a variety of traditional Dalmatian dishes and some of the best wines in one of the Brač taverns. A return to Split is planned in the evening.
To round up your experience of Dalmatia, visit the Klis Ethno Village. This extremely attractive destination for both local and foreign tourists is surrounded by mountains and untouched nature in the close vicinity of Split. The location celebrates the architectural tradition and the way of life in Dalmatian Zagora in past centuries making it an excellent combination of bygone days and present time.
