Dalmally

After meeting at the central point in Oban, you will be taken on a tour off the beaten track to local historical sites often not seen by the average tourist and learn about the origins and history of Oban. Visit Dunstaffanage Castle a ruined castle which has a unique local history dating back to the 12th-century. Then will visit the St. Conan's Kirk a uniquely famous and renowned architectural church which holds bones of Robert the Bruce. From there you will go to see Kilchurn Castle which dates to back to the 15th-century and was the original home of the Clan Campbell. You will then be taken through Glen Lonan, a hidden gem of a valley where standing stones and highland cattle can be seen. This glen is hard to find and not normally visited by tourists and is also on the "coffin trail" an ancient burial route of Scottish Kings and Queens on route to their final burial place in Iona. While exploring the glen you will have many opportunities to get up close and personal with the Highland cattle and calves. With your tour coming to an end, enjoy a seafood lunch on the fishing pier in Oban. You will learn about the local fishing economy and get to enjoy delicious local catches. Vegetarian and other dietary options available on request.

Leave Glasgow 27 minutes After leaving the centre of Glasgow via the motorway we are very quickly in the open countryside with Stirling and its surrounding hills soon visible in Scotland's most popular villages to visit. Walk past the pretty sandstone and slate cottages to the pier for wonderful views up and down Loch Lomond and across the loch to the mountains. From the pier a very short walk to the atmospheric church graveyard which has graves dating back to 600AD / 700AD. There is also a 1000 year old Viking grave to amaze you. 30 minute stop. Tyndrum A scenic drive of 60 minutes as we head north and into the Highlands proper and start transitioning into a bigger and wilder landscape. Passing through Tyndrum, altitude increases and we arrive at the elevated Loch Tulla viewpoint, a great place to enjoy the Highland expanse. Rannoch Moor One of the last wilderness areas in Europe, a vast area of bogs, small lochs (lochans), streams and rock outcrops. There are numerous stopping points where you can walk away from the road and soak in the atmosphere of this remarkable place. We turn around on the section of road from the Bond movie "Skyfall" where 007 and M are driving in the Aston Martin. Our return to Tyndrum gives a far bigger and grander view of the Rannoch Moor wilderness. At Tyndrum we turn right into the beautiful county of Argyll. Kilchurn Castle. Built around 1450, this long abandoned castle is still very impressive, it sits at the top of Loch Awe ringed by mountains both close by and distant makes for a very memorable visit. There are Highland Cattle living in the vicinity and hopefully they will be visible and very close when you view the castle. 30 minute visit St Conan's Kirk Just 5 minutes from Kilchurn Castle is this very unique and beautiful church perched on the edge of Loch Awe. Described as enchanting, magical and fascinating, a wonderful stop. Inverary. Inverary, on Loch Fyne is a lovely village in a grand scenic setting on the western shore of Loch Fyne, as well as strolling in the village, a walk to the picture perfect Inverary Castle is very popular for visitors. There are shops worth browsing for souvenirs, an excellent whisky shop which will let you sample some quality Scotch. There are also some food takeaways, although tour guests love the Loch Fyne Oyster Bar which we pass on our way to our next stop, the take-away fish and chips is the favourite and siting at the outdoor tables with wonderful views of the Loch and Mountains somehow makes them even more delicious. 30 minute stop. The Rest and be Thankful. The famous pass called The Rest and Be Thankful divides Glen Kinglas from Glen Croe. On top is a viewpoint with beautiful views of Glen Croe where you can clearly see the old valley road which was engineered by General Wade during the subjection of Scotland following the Jacobite rebellion. 10 minutes Return to Glasgow 50 minutes scenic drive. Next we will make our way westwards towards the beautiful village of Luss, nestled on the banks of Loch Lomond. Once there, you will have 30 mins to explore this wonderful quaint conservation village, voted 'the most beautiful village in Scotland' by some. Approximately an hour away is the stunning Inveraray Castle, 'The rest and be Thankful' moutain pass is en route, and we will stop here for some quick photos of the fantastic scenery. 10 mins photo stop. The iconic Inveraray Castle, home and residence to the 'Duke & Duchess of Argyle', (the Duke of Argyle holds the Clan Chief, of Clan Campbell title) open to the public with a cafe in the basement. Our next stop is Kilchurn castle, a great stop for photos, it was a formidable fortress in its time, surrounded on three sides by water. 10 mins photo stop Next we will make ou way to the most photographed place in Scotland: The Three Sisters of Glencoe. This is an incredibly beautiful mountain viewpoint full of poignancy and historical relevance. From here, we will make our way back through Rannoch Moor - the largest bog expanse in the UK. There are several photo stop opportunities along the way. From here, we are on our way home, but to break up the journey we will stop over at the Kelpies - the largest equine statues in the world.

The enchanting town of Oban is next on our journey, here we will stop at Oban's coliseum, there is a whiskey distillery and shop in Oban and several sea food restaurants, we will give you 1hr here. Breaking up the journey to Glencoe, we will have a brief stop for photos at Stalkers Castle 10 mins photo stop. Following the sea line we head to the legendary Glencoe mountains (3 sisters) and village. several photo stops of 5 minutes. Heading homewards, there are several photo stop opportunities including Rannoch moor 10 mins photo stop.

Built in the 13th century, Doune Castle was a medieval stronghold, which has been used in countless film sets, from the hit TV series 'Outlander', to 'Game of Thrones', 'Monty Python's Holy Grail', and 'Outlaw King'. Not far from Doune, we will stop over at Kilmahog, where you will have the chance to feed some snacks to the famous Scottish 'Highland Coos'. Approximately an hour away is Loch Tulla viewpoint. A perfect place to take some photos of all the Scottish Highlands have to offer: mountains, lochs and forests. Shortly after is the start of Rannoch Moor - the largest bog expanse in the UK. There are several photo stop opportunities along the way. Next we will make ou way to the most photographed place in Scotland: The Three Sisters of Glencoe. This is an incredibly beautiful mountain viewpoint full of poignancy and historical relevance. We will then stop over at the shore of Locah Linnhe to admire the beautiful Castle Stalker. Built in 1320 by the MacDougal Clan, it was visited by King James the IV, a relative of the Stewart Clan that owned it at that time. Castle Stalker has been the film location of a few films, notably, the 'Highlander' and 'Monty Python's Holy Grail'. A possible lunch stop is Creagan Inn, a family run restaurant serving a variety of Scottish themed meals with a well stocked bar with over 120 single malt whisky's. St Conan's Kirk is our next stop. A wee hidden gem of the Scottish Highlands, this Kirk was voted by Architects as a top ten building in Scotland, and with a crypt with a bone from Robert the Bruce it's a most quirky building, alike to a 'Game of Thrones' scene. Start with pickup in Edinburgh and make your way to the ancient Roman town of Callander. Pass by Stirling Castle and the William Wallace Monument along the way. Stop at the award-winning Mhor Bakery and buy some Scottish treats or lunch for the trip if you wish. Continue to Glencoe, admire the stunning scenery, and learn about the area's history. Pass by the Castle Stalker and make a quick photo stop on the way to Oban, a charming town with an amazing viewpoint. Purchase lunch in the town, try some seafood on the shore, or visit the distillery. Visit St Conan's Kirk, a church situated in the village of Loch Awe that attracts visitors from around the world. Then, head to Inverary Castle. Make your way through the castle and gain an insight into the lives of previous generations or simply take a photo of the castle and grounds. Begin the return journey to Edinburgh, passing Loch Lomond, the largest in Scotland, on the way. Stop to marvel at the views and take some photos of the scenic views.
