What to Expect
Luxor has often been called the world's greatest open-air museum, and on this full-day tour from Dahab you will soon discover why. The number and preservation of the monuments in the Luxor area are unparalleled anywhere in the world. But what most people think of as Luxor is in reality 3 different areas, consisting of the city of Luxor on the east side of the Nile, the town of Karnak just north of Luxor, and Thebes, on the west side of the Nile, and which the ancient Egyptians called Waset.

Departing Dahab at 03:30 to make the most of the day, you will transfer to Sharm el Sheikh airport for a short flight to Luxor. Upon arrival, meet with your English speaking guide and transfer by air-conditioned bus to the West Bank of the mighty Nile River. Start your tour of Luxor’s ruins at the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens.

Used primarily for the burials of Pharaohs, from approximately 1539 BC to 1075 BC, the Valley of the Kings contains at least 63 tombs, while the nearby Valley of the Queens, where the wives of the Pharaohs were buried, along with princes and princesses, contains some 70 tombs.

You will also visit the massive stone statues of the Colossi of Memnon, and the mortuary temples of the Temple of Hatshepsut.

Continue in the afternoon with a visit to the East Bank to see Luxor Temple, built by Amenhotep III from Nubian sandstone. You will also visit the other great monument of the East Bank, Karnak Temple, said to be the 2nd most visited site in Egypt after the Pyramids of Giza.

Having seen the monumental precincts, friezes, and sphinx statues, you will be transferred back to the airport for an 18:00 flight to Sharm el Sheikh. Upon arrival at Sharm el Sheikh airport, you will be met by a driver and transferred to your hotel in Dahab.
