  • Florence: 1-Hour Cupola Entry and Guided Tour

    2. Florence: 1-Hour Cupola Entry and Guided Tour

The exterior view of the Cupola is a showstopper, but the only way to see the inside of the dome up close and enjoy the extraordinary view of Florence is to climb its 463 steps. Discover how the Cupola was designed and built by Brunelleschi in 1418. Find out why the corridors are so narrow, and admire Giorgio Vasari's frescoes of the Last Judgment (1572-9) on your way up. Look down and on the base, just above the drum, see the balcony started, but never finished, in 1507. Hear about the fascinating story of the balcony and the unfinished eighth side from your guide. Once you climb to the top of the Cupola, you will be enchanted by the panoramic view of the Florence city in front of your eyes. Your guide will talk about the history and art of this Duomo Square and answer any of your questions regarding Duomo.

We really enjoyed this tour. We had a large group (16), so they divided us into two groups. Both guides spoke flawless English and were engaging and friendly. It was definitely a highlight of the day!

We were the only ones booked and received a private tour with our guide. He was very informative about the construction of the duomo and about florence in general. He was easy to locate at the start of the tour (this was a major problem on a GYG tour booked in Milan earlier in the week). Much more enjoyable experience overall!

Our tour guide, Giacomo, was fantastic. Both knowledgeable and courteous. He is an architect himself so he explained many elements of the church and the dome in great detail. Spoke loud enough for all of us to hear clearly which is usually an issue on crowded tours. Would recommend to anyone visiting Florence.

Pleasant explanation and guide (Giulia) very sweet and very prepared, really kind and helpful

Leonardo was our guide, nice kid, knew his stuff. Smoothe checkin, cut the line

Guide (Silvia) explanations were excellent and the view is awesome!
