Frida Kahlo's Casa Azul, Xochimilco & Coyoacan:Full-Day Tour
- Transportation included
- Skip the ticket line
- Duration: 8 hours
My friend and I had such a fun time on this tour! Our scheduled pick up time was 8am, but by the time the guides picked us up from our hotel it was 8:30am. We were the first ones picked up and it took until 9:30am to pick up all the other passengers from the other hotels. Our first stop was a lovely flea market where I picked up a few souvenirs. Next stop was the 1968 Mexico City Stadium where we stopped for a few minutes to take photos. Closer to lunch time we boarded the boat - keep in mind, it is not a 5 hour boat ride - you'll only be on the boat for 1.5-2 hours. Lunch is not included, but you can purchase quesadillas and drinks on the boat (trajineras). Lunch is 200 pesos. There is both meat and veggie options. It is a fun, relaxing afternoon. You'll see plenty of colorful boats pass by. The last part of the tour is Frida Khalo Casa Azul. The guides will drop you off there for you to tour on your own and then leave at your own time.
I had limited time in Mexico so these day-tours were really the best ways to make the most out of my time. I'm pretty surprised with how much we were able to fit into one day. It was a great highlight of these areas with good information and still time to walk around on our own and explore. Its really so convenient also to have the transportation to all of these places taken care of.
We were a small group of 5 so very easy to hear Paloma our lovely guide. She was a local and very knowledgeable and managed to switch between English and Spanish for all the participants. We went on a Sunday when the traffic wasn’t too bad and it was great to see the locals enjoying themselves. The tour included tickets to the Frida Kahlo museum which skipped the queue!
My high point was the visit to Freda Kahlo’s house. The main reason for coming to Mexico City .Having said that ,this is just a wonderful place. The people are just so laid back and without the hustle and bustle of most big cities .The people everywhere are just lovely ,an easy place to live.
