Explore Denmark on a full-day trip that takes you to see the spectacular castles, countryside, and coastline north of Copenhagen. Enjoy a day out in beautiful North Sealand with stops at Frederiksborg Castle, Kronborg Castle, and Fredensborg Castle.
What to Expect
Take a full-day trip from Copenhagen to the country north of the city on a unique castle tour. Travel up the road of the "Danish Riviera" to Hillerød, taking in a beautiful view of the Øresund Strait, with the Swedish coast beyond.
You will get the best out of a day in beautiful North Sealand and visit all the castles on the route. In Hillerød you will experience the inside of the magnificent Frederiksborg Castle. The visit includes the National History Museum's royal art collection, the Chapel of Orders, and the Knight's Hall. From here the tour continues past the Royal Family's summer residence, Fredensborg Castle, where you will stop for a photo opportunity.
After Fredensborg Castle, drive to Elsinore where you will enter Kronborg Castle and experience its impressive outer walls and towers, which were the setting of Shakespeare's play "Hamlet." You will also experience the dungeons of Kronborg. The castle was built between 1574 and 1585 to protect Danish interests and to collect tolls from ships passing through the narrow strait.
