Overview
Yala national park is the most popular safari destination in the island of Sri Lanka and it is set in the island’s legendary Ruhunu kingdom. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Chaaya Wild Yala.
What to Expect
Day 1
We will leave for Yala National Park via Ratnapura. En route visit Gem Museum and Saman devala in Ratnapura. Later in the afternoon visit the Yalanational park.

Yala national park is the most popular safari destination in the island of Sri Lanka and it is set in the island’s legendary Ruhunu kingdom. It gives you the maximum of wild life adventure, it is rustic, scenic and wild at wildest. The vegetation of the national park is dominated by scrubs, thorn bush and various types of grasses. Isolated big trees are seen at the beginning of the safari tour while dense jungle dominated as you go deep into the park.

You will be rewarded with gorgeous scenery across the grass lands and huge lakes filled with rain water with colorful birds, majestic elephants, wild leopards, and various other animals. Colorful green bee eaters are everywhere and they allow you to have a close look at them. You see the isolated jumbos, herds of buffaloes, deer and wild boar in the distance as you pass the grass lands. You will be greeted wild crocodiles as you come across the ponds and waterholes. You will encounter large herds of deer, numbering hundreds in some occasions, grazing on the lush green growth. Leopards are the rarest animal to spot here and you can see this predator everywhere in the park. It can be occurring in three tops, grassy plains or near the water halls.

Day 2

Leave for colombo after the breakfast at Hotel. En-route visit Galle historical city and Kataragama temple.
