What People Are Saying About Colombo
From the beginning the communication with Get You Guide was extremely easy and efficient. On the activity day our flight arrived late and so, we arrived at the hotel a bit late than expected. Our guide was already waiting for us an he was super patient. We had 22hs before our next flight from Colombo and that's why we decided to get a tour and visit the city. The tour was great and took us to main points, Buddhist temple, dutch church, independence square, Galle Face Green, souvenir shop etc... The guide was really kind and with a very good english he explained a bit of everything about the touristic points as well as about Sri Lankan culture. We saw some nice paintings on our way and at the end of the day we asked him to take us back there and he didn't have any problem with that, waited patiently for us to buy what we wanted. We didn't have a meal because the timing wasn't great, is was mid afternoon and the dinner restaurants weren't open yet. But it wasn't a big deal for us;)
I was very pleased with the communication from this company. They contacted me, at our hotel, the day before the tour in order to confirm a pick up time. Our guide was a little late, but called on his way to explain that he was stuck in traffic (a common problem in Colombo). When he arrived, he was polite and welcoming. He pointed out highlights on our trip, but also allowed us time to just relax and enjoy the drive. He was very mindful of watching out for us at the orphanage and helping us keep track of our three children. He also seemed to be enjoying himself and I enjoyed listening to his laughter. The traffic was terrible on our return into town, but our guide never complained. I also appreciated that the company called us about half way through our day to check on us and to see if our transportation had been good. We made great memories!
Rowan trips gave us a fantastic tour and I would recommend them to anyone --- superb in every way
We were delighted with this trip overall. The only things preventing the fifth star were : Too many hours of travel without a break. Sitting in a seat, however comfortable, for three hours at a time is hard and to do it on three separate days was tough. Whilst the first two hotels provided excellent service in great environments, the final hotel was a let-down. There was a pool available, but it was a half mile walk away in another hotel and was cold and uninviting; The food was beautifully displayed on our plates but there was little choice and no great quality; The view was of a local school and the sides of other buildings. On the plus side, our driver was excellent: He was always polite and cheerful, very patient and friendly and spoke good English, even though he didn't always understand our spoken English. We visited all of the factories and workshops on offer (sales showrooms). The optional Village Tour was great fun, but the Safari trip was poor value for money.
