Your 10-hour excursion begins with a drive into the western highlands of Guatemala. The region is home to quaint and colorful mountain villages, highland lakes, pine forests and the majority of Guatemala’s indigenous peoples. When you arrive at the Chichicastenango market you’ll begin your walking tour. The market is at the center of the town and is the heart of commercial life for maxeños, the natives of Chichicastenango. Explore the pathways of the market and admire the colorful handicrafts and produce offered by the local people of the region. In Chichicastenango, you’ll also visit Santo Tomás Church, built in 1540 over the base of a pre-Hispanic temple. This church is a splendid example of colonial architecture, and the Mayan and Latino influence is evident in both the interior and exterior of the building. Really glad we made this booking - probably not as cheap as the ones booked locally but it was just the four of us on the transfer. Just myself at the back with the guide. But we saw pick-ups with about 10 people on them. Our whole group was conveniently small. Loved the small hike up to the viewing spot, then down to the pools with guidance on how to move down from one to the other and back up. And even though it started raining, the trip to the caves was great. I’d really recommend water shoes and a waterproof headlamp though, to make it easier to move around. Overall our guide Felix was great and really supportive, making sure we were all good and together. This was a great booking.

Ludwig is a very dedicated and courteous guide. He looked after us very well and can explain a lot about Guatemala, the Maya and the Garifuna. He organized the tour well. The breakfast restaurant was very good and Ludwig drove the route from Guatemala City to Chichicastenango very comfortably. Thank you! :-)

The guide Oscar was very attentive and explained everything. We loved the tour with him, the only thing we couldn't see was the lake in the afternoon because they say it is better seen in the morning. The rest was very good!

Very pleasant and very enriching day. Our guide Ludwig was very professional and very friendly. Comfortable vehicle.

Good guides. Great place. Cave activities should be better explained beforehand. Not suitable for claustrophobics.
