What to Expect
On this 4-hour tour in Chiang Mai, you will discover the most sacred temple in the north of Thailand: the Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep. Tucked away in the mountains at an elevation of 1,056 meters (3,520 feet), the temple is reached using a decorated railing rising along both sides. After climbing up 300 steps to the temple compound, you can admire the exhilarating view of the city of Chiang Mai and the surrounding countryside.
You will then drive back down to the city center to visit some of the other impressive temples in Chiang Mai including Wat Suan Dok, which dates back to the 14th century when it served as the pleasure gardens to the Thai monarchy. Nowadays it houses several white chedis (Buddhist stupas), containing the ashes of Chiang Mai’s former royal family, as well as one of the most famous Monk Schools in the whole of Chiang Mai. You will also visit Wat Jed Yod, also known as the Temple of Seven Spires.
