Escape the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai on this full-day tour to the historic cities of Lampang and Lamphun.
Journey by air-conditioned vehicle to the Lampang Elephant Conservation Centre, set up to develop elephant conservation and help preserve local traditions. Watch demonstrations of traditional logging techniques, as well as the more playful behavior of elephants at bath time.
After a local lunch, drive back towards Chiang Mai, stopping at Lamphun en route. Steeped in a history that dates back to 700 A.D, Lamphun is famous for its magnificent temples including Wat Phra That Hariphunchai at the site of Queen Chama Thewi's palace.
Visit Wat Ku Kut temple. Named after the 7th-century queen who founded Lamphun, Wat Ku Kut is believed to be one of the oldest Mon-era temples in northern Thailand. End your day along the beautiful old road from Lamphun to Chiang Mai, where thousands of ancient teak trees were blessed by activist monks in order to save them from felling.
