What to Expect
Your full-day tour of this northern part of Thailand begins in the morning with a visit to Doi Tung. The site is a major environmental and socio-economic development project that was initiated by Her Royal Highness Srinakarindra, the Princess Mother, mother of His Majesty the King of Thailand. Your tour includes admission to the Doi Tung Royal Villa.
The late Princess Mother chose to build this home in the north of Thailand where she could enjoy periods of rest and also work on her Doi Tung reforestation project. A visit to the temple known as Wat Phra That Doi Tung is also included on the tour.
During your travels it’s likely that you’ll encounter a variety of hill tribe minorities and there will be plenty of opportunities to stop and take photographs.
You’ll enjoy lunch en route at a local restaurant. In the afternoon you’ll drive to the northernmost point of Thailand, making a stop in the market town of Mae Sai, on the Thailand-Myanmar border. The market is well known for its variety of products from Myanmar, China, and Laos.
