Explore the working lives of Asian elephants on a informative tour of an elephant camp near Chiang Mai. Then visit an orchid farm to see and smell beautiful flowers of various species.
What to Expect
Enjoy a half-day group or private tour of Chiang Mai’s surrounding jungle to visit a working elephant camp in Mae Sa, and meet and greet the most emblematic and lovable symbol of the “Land of Smiles.”
After your 18-mile (30-kilometer) drive to the elephant camp, learn how the elephant became Thailand’s working pride and joy, and one of the country’s national treasures. Admire the sheer strength of these immense but gentle animals as you watch a formidable demonstration of trained elephants helping the local community with logging work.
You will have the option of riding an elephant to see the lush jungle scenery from a different perspective, before ending your tour at a nearby orchid farm - another national symbol of Thailand – where you will catch the colors and fragrance of thousands of wild orchids, as well as various hybrids on full flowering display. The farm also acts as a sanctuary for live butterflies that you can spot flying freely throughout the complex.
