Enjoy a drive in a VW bus to the yacht harbor in Potsdam, where a luxury pleasure boat will be waiting for you. From here you can discover the fascinating palaces, villas, and parks that can be admired from the water. Pass by the old market with St. Nicholas’ Church and the former shoreline building “Little Venice” on the island of Hermannswerder before seeing the sprawling Babelsberg Park, and the palace with the same name, appear to the right. Continue on past the villas at Griebnitzsee, which are even more beautiful from the water than on land since the front sides of the houses were not allowed to face the street. You will then reach Großer Wannsee, pass by the former home of Joseph Goebbels on Schwanenwerder Island, and see Peacock Island, which used to be called Caninchenwerder, before the Palace and Park of Sacrow with the famous Church of the Redeemer comes into view. Discover the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Potsdam on this exciting tour from Berlin. Visit the “Military Town No. 7,” also known as the “forbidden city.” See the last vestiges of the Soviet occupation and discover interesting facts about the history of this place. Explore the remand prison of the Soviet Military Counterintelligence at Leistikowstraße 1, the epitome of torture and torment for thousands of Germans and Soviet military personnel, now a memorial and meeting place. Explore the somewhat remote Bornstedt Cemetery, a place filled with mystery, secrets, and history. See burial vaults, family graves, and private cemetery sections of famous personalities. Cross over the Glienicke Bridge and the Berlin suburbs to the Old Market Square with St. Nicholas' Church, the Old Town Hall, and the new state parliament. Then, drive through the Dutch Quarter to reach the Bornstedt Crown Esta...
I chose this particular tour because it was a 6 hour tour - not sure how a 4 hour tour could have been as informative or paced as well. Johannes, our guide picked us up from our hotel and we enjoyed a private guided tour of Potsdam and its history. Johannes' research and accompanying material brought the past into the present. Lovely stop for lunch - beer hall - great atmosphere smelling the mash cooking. Good food, good company, good sights - can't ask for more.
Climb aboard the comfortable VW bus and discover Potsdam, the stronghold of the Hohenzollern for almost 300 years. Admire the fascinating cultural landscape, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, comprised of almost 20 palaces and extensive park grounds surrounding Baroque architecture. See the beautiful Charlottenburg Palace and head along Königsstraße to the first park in the cultural landscape of Potsdam: Park Babelsberg. Here you will make your first stop before continuing on across the Glienicke Bridge and the Berlin suburb to the old market square with St. Nicholas’ Church, the old town hall, and the new parliament building, modeled closely on the old city palace. Drive through the Dutch Quarter to Bornstedt Crown Estate, where you can stroll towards Park Sanssouci. The first stop there is at the palace of the same name with its fascinating Baroque garden. Depending on the time and y...
Our guide was knowledgeable and nice. He did his best to make the trip as instructive as possible. Potsdam is very lovely and interesting' and he showed us many things we enjoyed- like the beautiful view on Wansee and the old center of Potsdam. I would highly recommend this tour to people visiting Berlin

This was a great way of getting out of Berlin city center to see the somewhat less accessible sights of Berlin. Johannes was very knowledgeable about the sights and history of the area and monarchy and was able to explain history (he also had a book full of historical pictures to show!). He was also happy to adapt the tour to suit our preferences of what we wanted to get out of it and was very accommodating.
This day tour can only be recommended to everyone. You are shown a lot and there is also a lot of information about it. A big thank you to Mr. Westerkamp who gave us a very nice trip. We would make such a booking again and again.
We had a wonderful day with Johannes who picked us up from our hotel, as arranged, and drove us to Potsdam. He took us to all the major sites, sharing his formidable knowledge along the way. He was punctual, helpful & humorous.
Fantastic tour and very knowledgeable guide. Johannes customized the tour to our interests and had an amazing depth of knowledge on Potsdam and the surrounding area. Highly recommend taking this tour!
Fantastic. Wonderful guide. Very happy. Fantastic day.
