    After a briefing at the mobile information point, your excursion will start, up to the top of Mount. Etna at 3,300 meters. Take the cable car to quickly gain altitude up to 2,500 meters and then with special 4x4 minibusses, go up to 2,900 meters, near Torre del Filosofo.  During the 2-hour ascent, take 2-3 intermediate breaks to enjoy the view. Travel through the lunar-looking lava fields that will lead you under the summit craters.

    With a final demanding climb, reach the summit of Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe. Admire the peculiarities that characterize the summit area.  Descend on foot to the upper station of the cable car that will take you back to the starting point.

    I absolutely loved the tour! Our guide was super friendly, had great (English) communication skills and was very informative. As we needed to do a covid test (for our flight back home) in the early morning before the tour (pick-up 8.15/8.30h), our guide suggested we could come over to their second stop (to buy lunch before the tour) at 9.30h. We just made it with a taxi! The guide bought our lunch, because we payed for the taxi. Which was very kind of him! Also he has knowledge about (medicine) plants. This was awesome!

    The starting point of the trekking route is along the dirt road that runs from Provenzana to the summit craters of the volcano. The first stop will allow you to see the ruins of the Hotel delle Betulle, the only visible structure from those destroyed by the lava flow of October 2002. Take your time studying the varying volcanic forms as you follow the route. Hear about how they are related to the series of eruptions on the northern side of Etna, particularly the flank eruptions in 1911 and 1923. The later occurrence threatened the city of Linguaglossa. After visiting the particular volcanic structures, called hornitos (small oven in Spanish), go up along the Bottoniera (cinder cones) of the 2002 eruption. Reach the maximum height of 2,100 meters and stand at the edge of the craters. Descend Mount Etna through a sandy channel to arrive back at the starting point.

I absolutely loved the tour! Our guide was super friendly, had great (English) communication skills and was very informative. Funny, knowledgeable, and easy going guides took us on a wonderful hike up the volcano. We were never concerned about safety or pushing the limits. Max did an incredible job navigating the terrain and explaining every feature we encountered! Super easy to book and clear instructions were sent to us before arrival.

Gaetano is a very kind and experienced person who accompanied us all the way, telling us in detail every single aspect of the place. Highly recommended for those who want to spend a different and fun day!
