Full description
Enjoy an adventurous day trip to Mount Etna, including handy roundtrip transfers from Catania. Best of all, customize your tour according to your needs, choosing from either a private or small-group experience in a choice of languages. Explore the volcano’s ancient craters, a lava flow cave, and try some local produce, while taking in some breathtaking panoramic views along the way. Start your day with a pick-up from your Catania accommodation in an air-conditioned 4x4 or minivan. Digest some fun facts about the volcano from your professional guide as you drive 2000 meters up. Hear about everything from the volcano’s natural resources, memorable landscapes, and flora, to lava flows that have swallowed roads and buildings in past spurts of activity. Once you reach 2000 meters up, take a guided walk around the ancient craters, recent lava flows, and other-worldly landscape. Rest easy as the trek is an easy one, suitable for both families with younger children and older family members. Try a mini-sampling of Sicilian delicacies during the trek, with some "cantucci" biscuits and "zibibbo" wine both up for tasting. After a short break, head to your next stop — a lava flow cave. Using a helmet and flashlight, you’ll discover the cave’s origins and stand-out features in ample time with your guide. Your last stop is a panoramic viewpoint at Monte Pomiciaro, granting you unforgettable views and photo opportunities over the Valle del Bove, the volcano’s most important valley. After your volcanic adventure, head back to Catania, where your tour will conclude.

Very experienced and knowledgeable guide. A tip for anyone who wants to leave the tour at the cable car, there is a public bus (at least on weekdays, maybe weekends too) that leaves to go back to Catania at around 4:30pm. Cost is €4 cash (no cards). The cable car itself is €30!

Loved! I stressed over how high up Etna I could get while still getting picked up at my hotel (the tours that go to the top generally require you to meet them closer to the site which was too far for me without a car). I worried this might not be high enough but it was, I felt like I saw everything and our guide Simon was super nice, super funny and really smart. Couldn't recommend this tour more.

The excursion was great! Our guide Simone was very friendly. We were picked up from our Airbnb and this was very convenient. Simone was very knowledgeable about Mount Etna and have us great information about the volcano. I learned a lot during the excursion! 100% recommend this tour if you would like to see the Etna up close without going to the top. We saw many incredible craters from 2000m, I didn't feel the need for us to go any higher. There is also no "surprise" obligation to pay extra to go to the top, like I have seen some people describe in reviews of other Etna tours sold on GeyYourGuide. This tour is comprehensive + no hidden costs at all!
