3. Full Day Lisbon: Private Tour

Experience old Lisbon by visiting St George's Castle, then take a tour of the old quarter of Alfama where a maze of narrow winding streets tumble down the hill, stop for a look at the Cathedral and Saint Anthony's church, and maybe take a trip on the iconic number 28 trolley bus (20 minutes). We can also visit Casa Dos Bicos, a fascinating 16th century palace that used to belong to the Portuguese Viceroy of India. The building now houses the Jose Saramago Foundation, a museum dedicated to the controversial Nobel Prize winning author who died in 2010. Visit the historic city center with magnificent buildings in baroque style and the famous 'Black Horse Square', before continuing onto the atmospheric Bairro Alto and Chiado districts. Then you might like to stop off at the Parliament building or perhaps visit the home of Fernando Pessoa the world famous Portuguese poet who so eloquently immortalized the Portuguese soul. After that we visit the monastery of St Jerónimo, with a stop en route at the tower of Belém (where we will sample the traditional custard tarts) and the Monument of the Discoveries. If you wish we can stop at the Expo area to visit the aquarium or perhaps a museum such as the Calouste Gulbenkian, the National Museum of Ancient Art or the National Coach Museum.
