Overall rating

(2,051 reviews)

I liked our guides enthusiasm and knowledge. He also made the tour fun. He went out of his way to store our luggage in Herculaneum. Pompei was difficult in that respect. He also arranged a taxi for 6 of us to return to Naples. There was a train strike which made getting to and from Pompeii challenging. I was not as excited about Herculaneum. It was a much smaller area and perhaps seemed repetitive though much was well preserved so we can surmise a lot about the lifestyles then. Overall, very good and I would recommend the tour, I think having 2 busses that returned to Sorrento and Naples included on the tour would have been nice since Askos was aware of the strike. Diego was an excellent guide!

it was a fab day but was asked to arrive 20 mins before pick up and bus arrived 2 mins before it was due to leave. Very steep walk to top of volcano not for unfit or mobility problems and the toilets at volcano were beyond gross take own tissues and hand sanitizer. Herculaneum only has vending machines for food and drinks but there are food options outside in the carpark. All in all a great day well worth the money

everything was well organised and it we were well looked after by the guide ... it was everything and more ! the driving was a bit manic at times as in the back seat we were thrown around quite a bit !

The crowds were reasonable and we were not rushed through the site. The audio system worked well once we oriented ourselves with the map and number system.

Well worth getting a guide to visit Herculaneum. Our guide was enthusiastic and interesting.
