Tour the golden beaches, spectacular cliff tops and ancient monuments of the Gower, the UK's first “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.” You will hike along the coastal path, past ancient remains and take lunch at Rhossili.
What to Expect
This full day tour of the famous Gower Peninsular lets you stroll along sandy beaches, see a stunning coastline and discover prehistoric wonders.
It all begins with a short visit to the Dylan Thomas Center in the city of Swansea, where you get a glimpse into the life and work of one of Wales' most celebrated and lyrical poets.
Then you head onto the Gower Peninsula for the remainder of the 8-hour excursion. The Gower has been designated Britain's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and by the end of the day you will see why.
Offering fantastic views of golden sand beaches from cliff tops, coastal path walks along windswept trails, walks on the beach and plenty of fresh air, the day will delight newcomers to Wales and surprise repeat visitors.
The main stop of the day is at Rhossili, where you will have the chance to explore the charming town and marvel at the spectacular panorama of Rhossili Bay. It is here that you will grab some lunch. The time is at leisure, but your guide can direct you to favorite pubs or restaurants, such as The Bay Bistro and Bar Helvetia.
You will complete your journey with a visit to the northern shore of the Gower Peninsula. Here you will pause at Weobley Farm to enjoy superb views of the salt marsh and take time exploring the ruins of an ancient castle.
There will be plenty of light hiking and walking throughout the day, and plenty of views to admire; but if you fancy a quick swim in the Irish Sea, then that can also be arranged at Caswell Bay.
