Climb above Rhodes Memorial for a watchman’s view of glimmering water on Table Bay and a snack in a historical cave.
What to Expect
Hiking is without a doubt one of the best things to do in Cape Town — the Cape's nature is unlike anything else and views are truly breathtaking.
You'll start above the beautiful and historical University of Cape Town walking from Rhodes Memorial up through Fynbos to the Kings Block House. Built following the first British occupation of the Cape in 1795 it is a massive stone structure located on a prominent point on the Devil's Peak, which was retained in use as a signal station for communication between Table Bay and False Bay.
Then continue on an easy climb up to a cave for a well deserved rest and refuel with a panoramic view of the City of Cape Town. It is a relatively easy hike which takes around 3 to 4 hours.
