We were visiting Akaroa from our cruise ship and independently booked this short but informative trip out into the harbour to see the local wildlife. The ship's Tender docked at the same wharf, so finding our departure point was easy. We saw Hector Dolphins, (which were pretty difficult to catch on film) and sailed near the local seal colony. Overall it was an enjoyable way to experience the harbour.
The views from the Gondola were spectacular and an amazing way to see Christchurch for my very first time, very relaxing ride and nice little walk once I was at the top. The Punt on the Avon River was very relaxing and the instructor shared a lot of history and had a good sense of humor. All round was an excellent experience and would love to do it all again.
Super boat took us out around the harbour introducing us to a few of the Hector dolphins and many of the seabirds. Then we went out further to sea the caves and geological formations in the cliffs and see the fur seals with their young. Loads of good photo opportunities and a very friendly crew.
We also spotted many hectors dolphins from this cruise besides being informed of the places we came across. Thank you to the guide who has the in depth knowledge of the cruise! He really make our journey interesting!
We had a really great harbour cruise - saw heaps of hector dolphins and other great wildlife. Really interesting stuff about the volcanic formations. Surpassed our expectations.
