Enjoy a day trip to two must-see pyramids: Chichen Itza and Coba. This unique full-day tour will give you the chance to see two very important archaeological zones in Yucatan. Lunch and a visit to breathtaking Ik Kil cenote are included.
What to Expect
Your tour begins with early hotel pick-up in Cancun or Riviera Maya. You will be driven to Chichen Itza to arrive at around 9:30, just before the crowds and heat. You will explore the site with your guide and stay there for about 2 to 3 hours. Chichén Itzá was a center of commercial and religious power and is considered one of the most important vestiges of pre-Hispanic culture. See its main landmarks, including El Castillo. After a great time here, your driver will be waiting to take you to the 'Sacred Blue Cenote' of Ik Kil ("place of the winds), where you can swim in the waters of this natural well inside a cave covered with lush vegetation. Then, you will enjoy a buffet lunch at the cenote's restaurant.
After lunch, you will head to visit the temples of one of the most impressive archaeological sites of Mayan culture, Coba. Coba in Maya means “water stirred by wind” and it is an ancient Mayan urban center surrounded by rain forest, lakes and cenotes. You can walk under the tall trees and observe exotic birds and other animals that live there. If you feel more adventurous, you can climb the tallest pyramid in the Mayan Peninsula Nohuch Mul (“large mound”) and get a breathtaking view as a reward.
You will leave Coba at about 16:30 and arrive in Cancun around 18:30.
