What to Expect
Your guide will meet you at the hotel lobby at 6:30 am and you will begin your tour to Alexandria by air-conditioned coach. Start your trip visiting Pompey's Pillar, a Roman triumphal column in Alexandria and the largest of its type constructed outside the imperial capitals of Rome, Next, visit the mysterious Catacombs of Kom El-Shoqafa. These ancient tombs are divided in three levels, containing the Triclinium, where relatives used to sit on stone benches to feast in honor of the dead. Inside the catacombs there are statues of Sobec & Anubis wearing Roman armors that date back to the 2nd century A.D. Then visit Elshawary, the Alexandria Library.
You will also visit Qaitbay Citadel which is considered one of the most important defensive strongholds, not only in Egypt and along the Mediterranean Sea coast. It formulated an important part of the fortification system of Alexandria in 15th century AD.
