Discover Memphis, Sakkara, and Dahshur on this full-day excursion from Cairo . Travel southwest to see the step pyramids of Sakkara; the first proper pyramids built for the king Zoser. Visit the Pyramid of Unas, where the world’s most ancient religious texts were discovered.
Journey on to Memphis, founded by King Menes, and the ancient capital of Egypt. Admire the colossal statue of Ramses II and the great Alabaster Sphinx.
Further south is Dahshur, home to the Red Pyramid. Once the tallest man-made structure in the world, it now holds the humble title of the 3rd largest pyramid in Egypt. Adjacent to the Red Pyramid is its older brother, the Bent Pyramid. Named for its unusual change in steepness half way up, it is thought to be an early example of the shift from step to smooth-sided pyramids.
