What to Expect
On this full-day tour you will visit Alexandria, known as the “Pearl of the Mediterranean”, a large city on the coast and an important stop on any traveler’s Egyptian adventure. After being picked up at your hotel in Cairo, you will travel 3 hours down to Alexandria in first class fashion, where your trip will bring you face-to-face with many wonders of the ancient world.
On arrival, you will spend plenty of time walking around the streets and visiting the most important sights of Alexandria, known as the second capital of Egypt. You will experience the wonder of the Bibliotheca Alexandria (the New Library of Alexandria). You will see Pompay’s Pillar, a 25-meter column built as part of the temple of Serapis, as well as visiting the nearby subterranean galleries housing the remains of ancient bulls and three Sphinxes.
After walking around the ruins you will visit the Qaitbay Citadel, where you will have the chance to visit the Roman Catacombs, a large Roman cemetery consisting of 3 levels of cut rock. Finally, before returning back to your hotel in Cairo, you will visit the spectacular castle and grounds of the Montazah Palace, where you can stroll around the beautiful gardens.
