Spend your morning visiting Cairo's camel market, with a 3-hour tour that takes you to nearby Birqash. Here, you will see merchants buying and selling camels for farming or consumption, and be able to observe the traders negotiating and making deals.
What to Expect
Travel from Cairo to Giza City to see Egypt's largest camel market, Birqash, on a 3-hour morning excursion. Departing at 07:00, you will cover a distance of 22 miles (35 kilometers) to arrive during the peak time of the market.
Hundreds of camels are sold at the Birqash Camel Market every day, mostly for farm work or consumption purposes. While interesting to see, it is definitely not a market for the animal lover, as the camels are not treated as well as they could be.
Each day, camels come from as far away as Sudan and Somalia, as well as elsewhere in Egypt, and are either sold for cash or traded for livestock. As a visitor, you will have a chance to see the camels themselves and observe the traders busy at work.
