What to Expect
Take a journey back in time to the great myths of Ancient Egypt. This 8-day tour of Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan takes in temples and museums, exploring the world of the pharaohs. You will sail by felucca on the Nile and Lake Nasser, see the High Dam at Aswan, and explore centuries of antiquities in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

Day 1: Arrival - Cairo
Arrive at Cairo Airport for your pick-up and transfer to your overnight accommodation by air-conditioned car.

Day 2: Cairo – Overnight to Aswan
Start your first full day with a visit to the Egyptian Museum in central Cairo. See the largest and most precious assortment of Egyptian art in the world. Boasting a rare collection of 5,000 years of antiquities, with over 250,000 artifacts, among the exhibits you can visit are the relics of Tutankhamen’s treasures of gold and jewelry, which were enclosed in his tomb for over 3,500 years before their excavation in the 1920s.

Continue with a visit to the Great Pyramids of Giza, and explore the pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinos. Get a close-up view of the Great Sphinx, the huge funeral complex that is guarded by the legendary statue of a lion’s body and face of King Chephren.

Then, try out your bargaining skills at Khan El Khalili Bazaar. Look for souvenirs of fine brassware, copper, perfumes, leather, silver, gold, and antiques. Enjoy an optional 1-hour felucca sunset sailing trip on the Nile.

Transfer to the train station for your overnight sleeper train to Aswan. Dinner will be served on board the train, with sleeper accommodation.

Day 3: Aswan
Enjoy breakfast on the train before your arrival in Aswan. A tour representative will meet you at the station and transfer you to your hotel for check-in.

Then, start your full-day tour at the High Dam and the Temple of Philae on Lake Nasser. You will sail by traditional Egyptian felucca to the island of Agilkia to visit the temple complex, which was removed from its original site after it lay submerged for most of the year under the waters of Lake Nasser. Tour the main Temple of Isis, built between the 26th-Dynasty and the Roman period.

Return to the mainland and drive to Aswan for a view of the High Dam. Enjoy serene views of sacred Lake Nasser. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Aswan.

Day 4: Aswan Free Day
Today you are free to explore on your own, or take an optional tour of Abu Simbel Temple or the Nubian Museum.

The colossal Temple of Abu Simbel was built by Ramses II of the 29th Dynasty. Saved from the Nile waters, the temples were built out of a sandstone rock cliff, and representation of the deities to which each was dedicated is carved on its huge façade. Nearby lies the small Temple of Nefertari, dedicated to the goddess Hathor.

The Nubian Museum opened in 1997 and displays thousands of antiquities that would otherwise have been lost under the waters of Lake Nasser. The museum takes its name from the ancient Egyptian Nbu, meaning gold, in reference to the area's famous gold mines. Enjoy scenes of Nubian life demonstrated via a range of exhibits.

Day 5: Aswan - Luxor
Transfer to Luxor by train after breakfast. On arrival, a local representative will take you to your hotel before the start of your full-day tour of the West Bank, the Valley of the Kings, Colossi of Memnon, and Hatshepsut Temple.

You will visit the Necropolis of Thebes on the East Bank, and cross the Nile for the drive to the Valley of the Kings, where you will visit the tombs of various dynasties, including the mortuary temples of Deir el-Bahari. On the return journey, stop at the Colossi of Memnon and admire the 2 gigantic sitting statues representing Amenophis III. Visit the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, before the return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Luxor.

Day 6: Luxor Free Day
Today you are free to relax or explore on your own. Optional full-day tours are available to the East Bank to see the temples of Karnak and Luxor. After exploring the granite statues of Ramses the Great at Luxor Temple, you can proceed by carriage or bus to Karnak, and explore the series of temples that reflect various reigns of ancient Egypt. Walk up the Avenue of the Sphinxes, and visit the Great Hypostyle Hall to see the 134 gigantic columns.

Alternatively, take a hot-air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings. Drift peacefully across the Valley of the Queens, and get panoramic views of the Valley of the Nobles.

Transfer to Luxor train station for your overnight train to Cairo. You will be served dinner on board and enjoy sleeper accommodation.

Day 7: Cairo – Sakkara - Memphis
Following breakfast on the train, transfer to your hotel and freshen up before your full-day tour to Sakkara, southwest of Cairo. See the Step Pyramids, the first proper pyramids built for King Zoser, and considered to represent the evolution of the pyramid, from the simple mastaba to the pyramid in its known form.

Visit the pyramids of Unas and Oser-Kaf, and the Mastaba of Mereruka. See the carved and painted tombs of Ti and Pta-Hotep. Then continue to Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt, with its colossal statue of Ramses II and great alabaster sphinx that guards the Temple of Ptah. Return to Old Cairo and visit Abu Serga Church, the famous Hanging Church, and the old Jewish synagogue of Ben Ezra. You can also enjoy an optional dinner cruise on the Nile, with belly dancing and tanura shows, or a tour of Cairo by night.
