Top Tours & Activities in Cairo
You can't swing a hookah in Cairo without striking archeological treasure! "The City of a Thousand Minarets" boasts not only stunning Ottoman mosques, but ancient wonders and a clash of modern and traditional cultures. Here's what to see.
Book a day trip to this stepped tomb built by the earliest known architect, Imhotep. The Pyramid of Djoser has survived over 4 millenia, though all that remains of the Pharoah Djoser is his left foot!
The museum boasts the world's largest collection of Egyptian antiquities, including Tutankhamen's solid gold death mask. Expect strict security measures, but it's truly a must-see!
Finished in 2005, it's already hard to imagine how the site of the breathtaking Al-Azhar Park was once a mountain of garbage accumulated over five centuries!
For a tour of Cairo's religious life and history, there's no better place to start than at the city's oldest mosque. Al-Azhar Mosque was built in 970AD and it's also home to the world's first university!
Khan Al-Khalili,Cairo's most prominent souk (market), is as old as the Egyptian capital itself, and its economic heart still beats with tourists and locals alike!
Crowning its citadel is Cairo's most prominent landmark. Not only is the stunning Mosque of Muhammad Ali one of the best places to visit, it offers greats views of the city too.
Though home to two of Cairo's most famous icons – the Great Pyramids and Sphinx – the Necropolis' best attraction might actually be the fascinating ancient workers' village.
The best time to visit Cairo is from October through to May, when the weather isn't insufferably hot. Hotels are cheaper during its scorching summer, but don't settle for a place without air conditioning and a pool!
Book 3 or 4 days minimum just for sightseeing, but a full week is recommended for archeological day trips, or simply to uncover the many sides of Cairo's vibrant culture.

What People Are Saying About Cairo
To start sharing my travel experience to my fellow travelers, I book this tour from Get Your Guide. The local company who rendered the service is Emo Tour. This local tour company in Egypt requested that I made some changes to my itinerary to accommodate my other tour. So, I tried to switch my Itinerary supposedly this tour on October 8 but made some changes as requested by EMO Tour Egypt. So, this tour happen on 10-9-16. I am pick up by Mohamed who is very friendly and drop me off in Cairo airport flying round trip with Egyptair. My first time flying and traveling alone in Egypt. Then my guide is already waiting at the International Airport in Luxor with a friendly welcoming smile. She explained in great details the ancient history of Egypt. Shimaa Ismail is my tour guide. She is very friendly and knowledgeable. I felt comfortable the whole day that I am with her.I really enjoy my tour of Luxor temple,Valley of the Kings, the Colossi of Memmon. I recommend it. This is a must see.
Very good service, comfortable vehicle. Guide was very knowledgeable and superb with my 9 year old daughter. Highly recommended.
During a short stay in Cairo I had little time to go sightseeing. Real Tours provided the perfect occasion to visit all the major archaeological sites around Cairo, from Dahshour to Giza, with an extra stop in Memphis. The guide was extremely knowledgeable, super friendly and he really made this short trip a highlight of my stay. Now, I have only one wish, it is to come back and spend more time exploring each of the sites and I would seriously consider booking the services of Real Tours!
The trip was good & the guide Mohamed Sadek made the trip more comfortable and enjoyable.
We were collected on time from our hotel and taken for breakfast on our last minute request. Abo was very welcoming and friendly from the beginning and this did not change. Once at the Pyramids in Giza we were given an in depth history lesson and wonderful tour. Abo is an excellent photographer and we now have dozens of great (and some whacky) pictures which are very special. Abo is passionate about sharing the marvels of Egypt with visitors and will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime. Bring water and a sun hat. Thanks Abo!
