What to Expect
Once you’ve been picked up from your accommodation in Cairns or by special arrangement from elsewhere, journey up to the southern Tablelands observing a spectacular world heritage site along the way to your first destination.

Enjoy a freshly made, piping hot devonshire morning tea at Lake Barrine, a truely inspirational crater lake. Visit one of the largest and most spectacular strangler figs in the Tableland's rainforests, the Curtain Fig Tree, estimated to be over 500 years old.

From here, travel to your first waterfall, the famous Malanda Falls, which forms part of the North Johnstone River and was created by the last flow of lava from the Malanda Volcano. Native platypus are often seen in this permanent source of flowing water.

Your next destination will be the small dairy town of Millaa Millaa with the opportunity to visit four separate waterfalls including one of the most photographed waterfalls in Australia, Millaa Millaa Falls. This classic waterfall is a great place for a refreshing swim on a hot day, with an invigorating massage from the cascade of cool flowing mountain water upon tired aching muscles.

After your swim, (not mandatory), make your way to Zilliee Falls. A short walk takes you through some rainforest to the viewing area at the top of the falls which provides some creative photography opportunities.

Next, visit a waterfall that's particularly spectacular in the wet season, Ellinjaa Falls. Just a short walk through the rainforest will reveal the majesty of this very unique waterfall.

Then travel deeper into the Tablelands, driving through lush green rolling dairy pastures to a 295-foot (90m) triple tier cascade, Mungalli Falls, which is the highest waterfall on the Tablelands.

Afterwards, stop for a hearty lunch at one of the Tableland's best cafes before making your way across the Tablelands to Ravenshoe.

On the way, be treated to a view from the Millaa Millaa lookout where, on a clear day, there is a spectacularly panoramic view from Atherton to the Innisfail Coast.

Make your way towards Ravenshoe. You will notice the rapidly changing scenery as you approach the gateway to the outback and the famous Millstream Falls, Queensland's widest single drop waterfall.

Wind your way back over the Herberton ranges farmland towards a more tropical rainforest landscape and come to your final stop for the day - the spectacular Mount Hypipamee Crater. This is a one of a kind volcanic phenomenon and is the result of a massive, naturally occuring gas explosion leaving a crater over 196-foot (60m) in diameter and twice as deep.

The path continues around to the Dinner Falls where the lowest tier is the most spectacular. Time permitting there will be opportunity for another swim.

You will then have time to relax and enjoy the scenery down the mountain before returning to your place of pick-up via the the township of Atherton to Cairns.
