A 90-minute guided Segway tour from Cairns City Esplanade, heading north to Salt Water creek and tropical mangroves before heading into the tranquil setting of the Centenary Lakes in the botanic gardens. Enjoy a wide variety of tropical flora and fauna.
What to Expect
This is a fun, exciting and informative tour where you will take in a variety of points of interest. There will be the opportunity to spot some wild crocodiles and bird life, there are some great photo opportunities. You will be using the latest in self balancing technology, “The Ninebot”, which is the next generation Segway and is so easy to ride that anyone can master these machines in a matter of minutes.
You will begin the tour on the northern end of the beautiful Cairns Esplanade. There will be a 10-minute training period to ensure everyone is comfortable and in control before you depart. During the training period you will enjoy the sweeping views from the Cairns foreshore over to Trinity Inlet to the Aboriginal community of Yarabah.
You will then continue north following the wide cycle tracks towards the airport and cross the bridge over Salt Water Creek. You then follow the creek ,which is lined with mangroves that provide breeding grounds for prawns, mud crabs and a variety of fish. Keep an eye out for saltwater crocodiles and barramundi that inhabit this creek.
You will then arrive at the beautiful Cairns Botanic Gardens and cross into the Centenary Lakes, which is a unique wetlands area home to many species of flora and fauna.
The freshwater lake is a natural swamp, which is decorated by a patchwork of waterlilies that provide shelter for a variety of fish, turtles, frogs and water pythons.The lake is also home to many bird species; depending on the season visitors may see magpie geese, black ducks, black- necked storks, cormorants and pelicans.
You will then return to your starting point on the Cairns Esplanade.
