Marine Discovery & Interpretive Centre

Our Interpretive Centre showcases an expanded range of themed fish and animals like sharks, octopus and coral aquariums plus our amazing 360-degree Digital Dolphinarium, as well as a fascinating Interpretation of the Koombana Bay environment and its history – geological, indigenous, marine and contemporary. We are open 7 days from 9am - 3pm. Your ticket is valid for the whole calendar day, we recommend 90 minutes but feel free to stay longer! It is an immersive experience, with activity centres, interactive displays, feeding programs (4 times daily) and tours that appeal to all age groups. The aquariums tell the story of our region from freshwater river to offshore reef and feature the marine plants and animals of our temperate zone. The centre provides a unique experience that uses embedded technology along with natural displays to create a memorable experience for visitors that complements the wild dolphin experience of our beach Interaction Zone and Dolphin Tours. The Dolphin Discovery Centre works with the wild Bottlenose dolphins of Koombana Bay and is dedicated to conservation, research and education. The centre is a not for profit organisation and thrives on the generosity of about 100 volunteers. If the dolphins choose to visit the Interaction Zone outside the centre we will make sure we let you know. It's a great opportunity to see wild dolphins in their natural environment. There are no dolphins in aquariums or ocean pens!

Augusta: Whale Watching Tour

Augusta: Whale Watching Tour

Step on board and cruise Flinders Bay in style on board the Alison Maree, the sturdiest charter vessel in the South West. Everyone is treated as a VIP on board the vessel with complimentary access available to the Skippers lounge. Listen to stories from our friendly Skippers or head down the front of the vessel and learn the history and movements of the whales from the experienced on board Marine Biologist, ask them as many questions as you like. Enjoy a morning or afternoon tea consisting of a hot drink or water and help yourself to some biscuits. With a 99% success sighting rating, you are almost 100% guaranteed to see whales on your tour, if not you can join a tour again for free. The tours are family friendly and suitable for all ages. It generally doesn't take long after departing the Marina until whales are sighted, with over 35000 Humpbacks migrating, binoculars aren't required, there's plenty to see. The cruise goes for approximately 2 hours in the sheltered waters of Flinders Bay, Augusta which is a resting place for the whales whilst on their northern migration. Quite often sighted here is the Southern Right whale - always amazing to see as they were once almost extinct from being hunted back in the whaling days, and due to their gestation period their populations haven't quite recovered as well as the Humpbacks. Our tours depart twice daily from the Augusta Boat Harbour, located on Leeuwin Road, a 5 minute drive from the Augusta Town Centre.

Great day on the Mount Barker grape escape tour with Michelle of Busy Blue Bus. Couldn’t have wanted a better driver - friendly and a great source of local information and wines. Four wineries done and dusted … each of them excellent. Would highly recommend for anyone travelling to this beautiful area 😊

We had a lovely day. Small group hosted by Susan - really knowledgeable about the area and the different wineries and wines. Visited 4 wineries - all with more tasting options than we could manage so you could try wines based on your preferences. A lovely lunch included. Highly recommended.

Had a wonderful day Phil was very knowledgeable and enjoyed every part!!! Phil was so lovely when one of our travellers realised they left their phone behind at the last stop and trekked it all the way back!!!

Terrific guide, well-planned itinerary, kept to the scheduled timing. We really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend.
