What to Expect
It’s only appropriate that a Buenos Aires tango tour starts at one of the most iconic monuments in the city – the Obelisk. Tango is another icon that’s inextricably linked with Buenos Aires, as you’ll discover on an in-depth, 3-hour, authentic tango experience.
From the Obelisk, you’ll head to one of the oldest milongas in town, a place where you’ll find both professional and amateur tango dancers.
Continue along the tango trail to Avenida de Mayo, and see the National Academy of Tango and one of the most traditional bars in the city, which once hosted legendary tango singer Carlos Gardel.
The tour continues to wind its way through the tango hotspots of Buenos Aires with a visit to one of the oldest bars in the city, famous due to the tango song written by Francisco Lacal Montenegro.
Make your way to San Telmo, the famous Buenos Aires tango district. San Telmo is where it all started, and where you’ll get the chance to do a bit of time travel thanks to El Viejo Almancen. Back in 1969 this venue became the Temple of Tango, and is a must-visit spot to see the leading tango dancers in Buenos Aires.
You’ll finish your tango tour at the Plaza Dorrego, where you can take a seat, grab a drink, and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the passionate, and powerful tango.
