Explore the scenic village of Hollókő on a private 6-hour tour from Budapest, and discover the only village in Hungary designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Marvel at the 17th and 18th century houses of the Palóc people in the Cserhát Mountains valley.
What to Expect
Explore the ethnographic village of the Palóc people on a full-day private tour to the tiny village of Hollókő, set in the valley of the low peaks of the Cserhát Mountains.
Your day begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Budapest. Drive approximately 60 miles (100 kilometers) northeast to Hollókő, and prepare to experience an open air museum and living settlement!
Your guide will walk you through the village, pointing out traditional houses on the protected streets of Lajos Kossuth and Sándor Petőfi. You will see the town museums, such as the Village Museum, Post Museum, House of the Countryside, and House of the Weavers.
Then, it’s time to taste some traditional Hungarian-Palóc cuisine in one of the local restaurants, before working off some of the calories on a short climbing tour to Hollókő Castle. Here, you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding woods and hills before your return transfer to Budapest.
