Allow yourself a special day on a very “hunted” route from Romania! Taste the best wines in the country from the cellars where they are made. See the old Wine Museum and two wine cellars: Urlățeanu and Lacerta.
What to Expect
In the morning you meet in Victoria Square in Bucharest where the bus awaits you. From here head to Ploiesti, 82 km north from the capital, where the Wine Route begins. The tour starts with the Cellar Museum in Valea Calugareasca Village, a small museum where you can find old tools, barrels and wine jars, beautifully decorated and preserved by the locals.
After only 8 km, you reach the top destination, Urlati town, where you find a remarkable old manor, built at the half of the XIX century in a typical Romanian architectural style: Bellu Manor. Then you continue the route and make a new stop in Ființești Village for a guided tour through the Lacerta Winery. Visit the cellar and taste some of the best wines made here.
You spend most of the time back in Urlati village, by Urlateanu Manor, also a traditional manor and wine cellar, beautifully preserved and located on the top of a hill from where one can see the entire village. Here take the time to taste 5 different wines while learning about the wine growing process, and enjoy a traditional delicious meal by the restaurant, all included in the price. On your way back home, take the time to discuss about your experience.
