What People Are Saying About Bucharest
This tour packs so much value into its itinerary: friendly, knowledgeable guides with a passion for their city and its culture; an incredible hotchpotch of old/ancient buildings and churches down mazelike alleys; aging mansions converted to cosy cultural centre bistros, that only locals could find; rides on Communist-era trams; a visit to a huge local produce market, with free samples galore; an unbelievable Communist-era department store and a foodies' delight of Romanian specialties, beers and more! This is exceptional value for money.
Great guides and fun walk around Bucharest. Recommend this company highly. Saw history you would miss otherwise.
Andrei was the guide who met us outside the pre arranged time, who greeted our group with a sincere genuine welcome to the tour which was a refreshing change. We proceeded to the tour which was at a steady pace enough to absorb all the information about the city and its past. We visited quite a variety of things, some sad and of a dark past, but mostly I felt an optimism for this faboulous city. If I had not taken this tour I would not have known many things about Bucharest, I cannot recommend it enough. The tour guide went well above and beyond, and even after the tour took us to a place we were trying to find.
I had walked around Bucharest for a few days attempting to absorb as much of the culture possible, an infinite source of stimulation, to come to the conclusion that I may need some context of the art embracing the city. I stumbled across an alternative walking tour that produced the profound meaning of the street art I had been enjoying for my time being in the city. The guide was extremely professional, friendly, informative, and demonstrated a mastery of the English language. The tour essentially reawakened my love for street art and has inspired me to spread it's influence to the Arts District galleries in my hometown when I return. I would highly recommend this tour to any visitor in Bucharest, and double to any who may have a negative perception of street art, as it helps in opening one's mind about contemporary urban life.
A very informative tour where we got a real understanding of the city's changes from WWII through communism and the revolution in 1989. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about the city's history... the 3 hours flew by!
