See the monuments of Trebic's Jewish culture on a fascinating 5-hour tour of the historic town's UNESCO World Heritage sites. The dense architectural complex includes old homes and synagogues, as well as the town hall, rabbinate, poorhouse, and cemetery.
What to Expect
Visit the important Jewish cultural center of Trebic, home to the only Jewish monuments outside of Jerusalem which are separately certified as heritage sites by UNESCO.
Trebic once was one a flourishing hub of Jewish culture and tradition within the historical region of Moravia, and the surviving Jewish quarter is a testament to the epoch's co-existence of Jews and Christians.
The old Jewish ghetto and architectural complex is exceptionally preserved, with few comparable sites remaining within Europe, boasting, as it does, a density of old homes squished between synagogues, the town hall, rabbinate, and the community poorhouse.
The tour also includes a visit to the Jewish cemetery, where approximately 3,000 tombstones can be seen.
