What to Expect
The Mille Miglia Museum, opened to the public in November 2004, was established to provide living witness to the Mille Miglia, Brescia’s legendary car race. The idea of a museum dedicated to the Red Arrow was launched by the Associazione Museo della Mille Miglia Città di Brescia, expressly formed by a few friends, together with the Automobil Club of Brescia.

The museum of the legendary Mille Miglia race is located inside the Monastery of Saint Eufemia, a building complex of archaeological, historical, and architectural importance. It was established to carry out an ambitious cultural and educational project: to help visitors appreciate this extraordinary sporting event while illustrating a cross-section of Italian culture, history, and social customs between 1927 and 1957.

Follow the red pathway that comprises 9 sections, with 7 devoted to the 1927-1957 Mille Miglia, 1 to the 1958-1961 Mille Miglia, and 1 to the contemporary Mille Miglia. Each section features a computer station providing information, race results and images, and a few screens where original filmed sequences can be viewed.

Along the museum pathway you’ll see private collector cars that are periodically replaced by others, with the largest turnover usually taking place on the occasion of Mille Miglia races.

The route extends from the entrance to the exit and is indicated by a red walkway that meanders through all sections of the museum. Car and driver images represent, however, the real protagonists of the exhibition. Many of them are visible at various points along the walkway.

Before leaving the museum you can visit rare collections dedicated to the historic Mille Miglia competition, located in the old stall of the monastery.
