Explore the outstanding natural heritage and unique setting of Arcachon Bay. Discover its constantly changing appearance as the tides move in and out. Climb the Dune of Pyla, admire the views of the bay, and visit the shops and the casino in Arcachon.
What to Expect
You’ll be picked up at 08:00 at your hotel or cruise ship in Bordeaux for a full-day of exploring the Arcachon Bay area.
Head out on a drive to the 109-meter-high Great Dune of Pyla. Climb the highest dune in Europe and marvel at the incredible panoramic views over the ocean, forest, and bay.
Continuing on to the Arcachon pier, you’ll board a ferry for a ride across the bay. Arrive in the secluded, laid-back French oyster capital of Cap Ferret, a haven of seaside sophistication. Take a break here for lunch (not included in the tour price).
After a short ferry ride back, you’ll stop in Arcachon, a luxury resort that attracted Spanish royalty, Russian dukes, and international artists when it was founded in the 19th century.
Explore the town and admire its mix of neoclassical, neo-Gothic, colonial, and Swiss chalet-style houses. Spend some time at the shops or try your luck at the casino, which is located in a castle.
At 17:00 you’ll head back to Bordeaux, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel or ship at 18:00.
