Full description
Your experience begins are you depart from your hotel and make your way to the north of Bogotá towards the savannah, where Muisca settlements and the Guatavita Lagoon are located. You will soon reach the top of the mountain where you will discover the sacred lagoon of Guatavita. Once there you will hear about the legend of El Dorado, including its traditions and rites.

You will then get immersed in an ancestral culture as you visit an indigenous reservation where the locals will tell you their secrets and introduce you to their buildings. Next you will visit the dam that flooded the old town of Guatavita in September of 1967, before you have an Andean lunch which will consist of local ingredients.

Following lunch you will explore the new town, which was designed from scratch to relocate the old settlers. The area is a special site for its style and a jewel of Colombian architecture. After learning the history of the indigenous tradition, your tour will conclude with you returning to Bogotá to see a sunset from the savannah.
