Why not plan a visit to Greece while you are on holiday in Bodrum? Take a short ferry trip to the island of Kos, the birthplace of Hippocrates, and explore the heritage and tranquil scenery of this friendly island.
What to Expect
Kos is a small Greek island located just 12 miles away off the coastline of Bodrum, and near enough for a pleasant day trip. A speedy hydrofoil boat leaves from Bodrum at 9.00, taking just 20 minutes to reach the Greek island of Kos. Enjoy a day of free time to explore this cozy island on your own. Walk through the picturesque streets of Kos, with beautiful buildings, cafés and shops in Grecian style. There are many historical sights and ancient ruins to explore: the 14th-century Castle of the Knights, numerous temples, mosaics, the amphitheater, acropolis, Roman baths. The major attraction of the island is Asklepion, one of the largest and oldest healing centers of the ancient world.

Kos is said to be the birthplace of Hippocrates, the father of medicine, and just behind the castle is the famous tree of Hippocrates. According to legend, Hippocrates taught his students the art of medicine under the shadow of this tree.

After exploring the sights of Kos, relax on the warm sandy beaches, and enjoy the calm waters of the Aegean sea. The island also offers great dining and shopping opportunities. Be sure to return to the harbor before the departure time at 16.00, then sail back to Bodrum on the hydrofoil boat. A day trip to the Greek island of Kos will be an excellent addition to your holiday.
