What to Expect
Your guide will collect you from your accommodation and transport you in a luxury minibus through the scenic mountain pass to Picton on the beautiful Queen Charlotte Sound. Cruising through the peaceful waters on your comfortable catamaran, your experienced captain will give a full commentary on the surrounding forests and ocean, whilst looking for the playful pods of dolphins. It is possible to don suitable water gear to enable you to swim and snorkel amongst these magnificent mammals as they frolic around you.
On returning to Picton, have a lunch stop (not included), before heading to the Falcon Heritage Center for a talk on the endangered New Zealand Falcon. Fern, the star of the show, will put on a flying display and finally settle on your gloved for a photo.
Next, visit a small sheep farm where you can cuddle the lambs and walk amongst the sheep. Then learn how raw wool is processed prior to spinning, weaving and knitting.
Finally, head over to view the Black Swans at Wairau Lagoon. The swans fly and swim around in their natural habitat but the bread on hand will tempt them closer.
