Full description
Follow the river road of Bilbao towards the coast and admire the old industrial areas that once powered Bilbao. You will visit the Transporter Bridge of Bizkaia, the oldest bridge of this type in the world, still active and considered a beloved icon by locals. Afterwards, you will see the neighborhood of Neguri and its old mansions owned by rich industrial managers before you head towards the interior of the province. Admire the traditional local houses and farm house structures, and discover the imposing old Castle of Butron. Arrive at the coastal village of Bakio, a popular summer holiday destination among Basque natives, before you follow the beautiful and wild coastal road, eventually arriving at your second stop, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. This place is said to be one of the most beautiful locations along the Basque coastline. It is a huge rock on the top the old hermitage of San Juan, and it is connected to the mainland by means of a long stone stairway. Next, you will continue to the fishing town of Bermeo. Here, you will stop to visit the narrow streets, the Juradera Church, the Ercilla Tower, the old port, and the Town Hall, among other sites. There will be free time for lunch, and your guide will suggest a selection of recommended local restaurants. Later, you will stop at Mundaka, a beautiful site with magnificent views of the Urdaibai Biosphere, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Afterwards, you will arrive at the village of Gernika to visit the Basque Sacred Tree and Casa de Juntas, or old Law House. Finally, you will return to Bilbao around 14:00.

The tour guide was excellent - very informative!

This was a great tour because the destinations were remarkable and the tour guide provided so much additional insights/depth. I was disappointed that we could not walk along the stairs at Gaztelugatxe - it would have been good if the description of the tour (upon booking it) made that more clear and identified an option where that aspect was incorporated in the tour.

Beautiful sights along the way with spectacular scenery !

Various places were visirted with a nice and longer stop in fisherman village Bermeo and a good visit and history explanation in Gernika in the Basque parliament. Some stops wit a castle and a chapel at a sea cliff were mere photostops and would have bene nice for a longer visit and sightseeing, but time was restricted. The guide was nice and gave a lot of background !

Lovely day

We were picked up at our hotel and we drove to see the transporting bridge, several villages and especially Gernika. Our guide Unai was exceptionally great. At the end he dropped us off near the old city and gave us the name of a great restaurant that we enjoyed very much
