What to Expect
Potsdam boasts more palaces than its French rival, Versailles. You’ll see the New Palace, Charlottenhof Palace, the Dutch Quarter and more on this full-day tour from Berlin.

Sanssouci Park is a relaxing yet magnificently opulent place. Our expert guide will take you through the beautiful royal gardens that were named a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The name Sanssouci means “carefree”. It was the name given by the Prussian King, Frederick the Great, to his summer palace and is reflected in its relaxing setting. The palace was built in the intimate Rococo style and is considerably smaller than Versailles, which was constructed in the French Baroque style.

Frederick built his New Palace about 20 years after Sanssouci. This is a much larger Baroque-style palace and was constructed to show the king’s power and the dominance of Prussia.
In the south-western corner of Sanssouci Park you’ll see Charlottenhof Palace. It was the summer residence of Crown Prince Frederick William, who later became King Frederick William IV of Prussia.

Also on our itinerary is the Dutch Quarter of Potsdam, which is a 4-block historic district of charming pubs and restaurants. It was constructed in 1735 to entice craftsmen from Holland to live and work in Potsdam.
