What to Expect
Experience a special evening tour, where the stars seem close enough to touch. Join this evening tour from Berlin to the neighboring Havelland, where you will visit the first Star Park in Germany. Here, in one of the darkest places in Germany, you can see the Milky Way, the North Star, the Big Dipper, and other constellations with the naked eye. Nowhere else in the world is such a star park located so close to a major city.
You will be picked up by VW bus at 20:00. Heading west, you will pass by the Olympic Stadium, the Olympic Village in Elstal, Ribbeck Castle, and Stölln (where Otto Lilienthal undertook his famous flight attempts). After approximately 100 kilometers, you will reach Gülpe on Lake Gülpe in Westhavelland. The highlight of the evening is a 2-hour tour of the stars guided by a local nature and landscape expert. You can take binoculars or a spotting scope to help you observe the stars. Most fascinating, however, is looking at the stars with the naked eye.
At around 02:00 in the morning you will arrive back in Berlin and have enough time to get some sleep and dream about the experience of the night sky in Westhavelland.
