What to Expect
Dive into the real Berlin with an introduction to the German capital's graffiti and street art culture! Berlin has long been hailed as a haven for creative and unique artists, and this 4.5-hour excursion will introduce you to some of the best urban art Berlin has to offer. To further enrich the experience, you'll get a 2-hour street art tutorial during which you will have the chance to leave your own mark on the city.
Berlin’s graffiti scene started in the late 1970s, and after the city was reunited, street art took off in the former East Berlin. For more than four decades now, the city has acted one enormous canvas for its resident artists. This tour will take you onto the backstreets to discover some of the latest and greatest examples of inspired urban artwork.
Learn about the unwritten rules and codes that apply to graffiti and street art as you see more than 50 local and international artists in their studios and on the streets. Talk to the artists themselves and discuss where the movement is headed as well as the changes that are occurring due to the jump in digitally created art.
After your tour of the city, get inspired in a local workshop in an magnificent abandoned factory complex where you will receive instructions on various graffiti techniques and will be able to paint the walls of this creative space. Learn how to work with stencils and paste-ups, be able to identify burners, bombings, pieces, and murals, and get an introduction to wildstyle, wickedstyle, caps, crews, and more. After you’ve learned all you can and tested the waters, try your hand at making your own stencils and take-home pieces of urban art!
