Discover a completely different side of the German capital on this 2-hour neighborhood tour of Mitte's Scheunenviertel (Barn Quarter). Venture off the beaten tourist track and explore the area's most interesting spots!
What to Expect
Discover some of the most beautiful sites in Berlin around the Spandauer Vorstadt. Explore Mitte's Scheunenviertel (Barn Quarter): visit a bunker, the Friedrichstadt-Palast, the former Kunsthaus Tacheles, the Postfuhramt, the New Synagogue, a typical Berlin courtyard, the Clärchens Ballhaus, and the Hackeschen Höfe.
The war did not destroy the Scheunenviertel but imbue its intact backstreets and courtyards with yet more incredible history. Clues to its past both recent and far lie in even the most obscure corners of the neighborhood.
Today, it is a lively, modern urban center. Countless art galleries, boutiques, and a variety of shops and restaurants make this trendy neighborhood a place you simply must experience for yourself!
The tour begins at the so-called Tränenpalast (Palace of Tears), by the historic Friedrichstraße train station. It now houses an exhibition you can visit free of charge. If you arrive at the meeting point early, hear stories about the area from your guide or visit the numerous shops and restaurants surrounding the station.
