Full description
Belfast is a city best explored with those who have lived through its ups and downs and can share with you its wonderful secrets. An excellent and informative guide will take you deep into the underbelly of the streets of Belfast with an exciting ride in a taxi.  The tour begins at the corner of Falls and Shankill Road, where you start in the epicenter of the conflict between the Roman Catholic population and its Protestant brethren. Drive past the "Peaceline wall" which divides the two sides of the communities, as your guide painstakingly points out the meanings of the murals and art that you'll see painted onto the side of these walls. Belfast may be known for its troubles, but your guide is here to share with you all the things that make this city something truly unique - its people and its history! The tour will cater exactly to your needs and answer any questions you have about the place, whether its about the conflicts, or just a great restaurant to try out! Guides are real taxi drivers, so trust them, they know about this city!

The tour was absolutely particularly eye opening and I would highly recommend to anybody who wants to learn more about the troubles. Brian gave a very fair and balanced view of the murals, what they mean, and how Belfast ended up living with division. Brian being somebody who lived in the city before the walls went up you could trust he had legitimate knowledge and passion for the area. He also had a brilliant knack of timing a joke to lighten the mood!

Do not miss this tour. Our guide Bobby was world class informative and entertaining. He arrived early, finished late ie. gave us extra time for free, and then dropped us off at the Titanic museum as a courtesy. The point of this tour was to understand first hand what is was like living through these times, growing up in the 70s and 80s all I had was the BBC news giving me their account. The tour met all hopes and expectations - however, I would urge the providers to consider a 3 hour tour which would give more time for the taxi driver to provide greater explanations, enhance the narrative, and learning. I think for some this would be a great option. Among many travels and tours I have been on, along with a favela tour in Brazil, this ranks as the very best. Absolutely brilliant.
